Why are we moving

Dear Community,
we are so grateful to be closing this 9th Season with so many of you (including ourselves!) truly sad - almost depressed - about envisioning your future without your weekly vegetable box; without the fast escape to a colourful, silent paradise; without the chance of understanding some more of where your food comes from, under the guidance of someone whose life is fully dedicated and devoted to this.

Yet, it is for this reason that we have to go.
It’s because the given conditions under which Perma Future was born are indeed a tight perimeter; and the nearest community, the one who is blessed by our presence, is indeed the least welcoming, the most jeopardising (except for you, Birgitt, Anja, Elisabeth, Caroline, Andrea, Suse, Kathrin, Emma, Jessica, Herbert …)

We want to thrive.
We deserve to thrive.
We understand what thriving means - in terms of survival, in terms of dignity; and it’s not in our nature to accept remaining stuck, to keep fighting against old mentality and structures.

Expanding is not an option; building our home on the land we grow is not an option; buying that land is also not an option, since one hectare is too small for self-sufficiency. We have asked, they said NO.

4 years of research have been financed by our savings to find 22 hectares.
They are between mountains and sea, in the centre of la bella Italia, at 470 meters above sea level.
On these 22 hectares we won’t have a house, neither the funds to build it; we won’t have perennials waiting for us, we will have weeds and invasive shrubs instead. We won’t have a plan, since Market Gardening can’t escalate if you want a healthy life-work balance; we won’t even have our fruit trees, who are just now starting to feed us, happily.
Yet, we won’t look at the past with regrets, because every day we have worked as if it would be forever, to maximise learning, experience, failure, experiments, varieties…
So that on our true land, we will minimise mistake. And we will.

So, dearests, keep studying, keep trying, and connect to us in case of doubt - seek our support!
We CAN weave a long, supportive exchange of resources, and our land will always welcome you, with your family, in all of your directional changes.
